"It's really scary when you get attached to someone. You spend time with them, you get to know them. You find yourself knowing their favourite colour, food, movie, song. You discover their flaws and their talents. And as time goes on, you learn more and more, absorbing every second of detail without even realizing it. Then one day, you wake up and realize how much this person actually means to you, and you love them for every strength and weakness. They make you feel warm and secure, but most of all, they bring you happiness. And to bring happiness to someone in such a way is a strong and powerful thing. It could break a person completely. Some say those who fall in love are young and dumb. I say they show an incredible amount of bravery. It takes courage to trust somebody with your entire heart."

Saw this quite some time ago on my Facebook news feed and came across it again today. It made me want to blog a quick entry, because the boyf and I had a recent bumpy ride in our relationship. It's nothing serious so don't worry :) We just discovered a little flaw about each other and the journey to accept flaws are never easy. You suddenly realize that the other person can be irritating, getting on your nerves, and make you shed one too many tears. But through it all, I see how much I actually love him and vice versa. We had a post-quarrel heart-to-heart talk and manage to resolve the issue. I feel that we understand each other more and this fact amazes me. Because after 33 months together, we are still exploring and learning and growing :)

Happy Chinese New Year! Hope you've had a great one ushering the year of the snake. It isn't exactly my favourite zodiac but this year's CNY went surprisingly well. First, we had reunion dinner at home. Just the 3 of us with simple steamboat abalone feast. Dad just bought a new induction heater so it was really convenient. I think we're gonna have reunion dinners at home going forward (as oppose to going to Grandma's place) and I'm liking it (: Fuss-free, hassle-free and stress-free.

On day 1, we went to Bright Hill Temple to pay respects to mummy and dropped by grandma's place for lunch. I like that we're going there in the afternoon (unlike previous years where we reach super early in the morning) because it means we get to see most of our closer cousins. I also got to play with my niece (Chloe) and nephew (Caleb) this year. This is the first time I got to hold their hands and carry them (': Ever since mummy's passing, this side of the family distant themselves away from us. No wedding invitations (until last year), no baby showers, no weekly family gatherings, no phone calls to ask how we were coping. Nothing. Zero. Zilch.

I didn't even know I'd become gu gu until recently. Not that it really matters but sometimes you just want to feel like you belong. No?

Baby Caleb and I! He's a little dragon too.

In the evening I went over to boyf's place for dinner with his paternal relatives. They're really sincere and nice people and I can understand why the boyf enjoys hanging out with them (:

On day 2, we went to visit dad's side of the family and I'm so glad bro came along this year. The company means a lot when you're always the one sitting in the corner of the living room and munching on tidbits. Haha. But I really like dad's side more because they are less pretentious, less money-minded, less judging. They go all out to make you feel comfortable and that's what family should be like.

The boyf came over to my place in the evening and stayed for dinner. Yippee super happy about it! He even had a short jamming session with my bro. So glad the relationship is working well (:

It's back to work/ school tomorrow!

#1425.

I'm blogging this post with a heavy heart because I've received too many news and I'm feeling weak from all the negativities. Blogging should help me pen my thoughts and clear my mind, I hope.

So I have an ex-schoolmate who recently passed away in a car accident. I wasn't close to him at all, in fact I don't even think he knows me but we've probably interacted in Hai Sing days. He was from NCC and I was from Girl Guides and I think we crossed paths once during a National Day event. This is the only photo I have of him and that was taken about 10 years ago.

He's the 2nd guy from the left and I remembered him as a really nice person. I was so shocked to hear of the news and my heart sank, thinking "a good life gone just like that". In fact, I teared when I scrolled down his Facebook wall and read the many comments left by his friends. Such a jovial man who impacted the lives of many in a happy way but what a waste it was.

Through this incident I also came across Ben's blog (http://benchriskwan.wordpress.com) which I find very inspiring. I didn't think much of him when we were in school (Ben was my batch mate in Hai Sing). To be honest, I even felt he was just a pretty face who could get what he wanted all the time. I guess I was wrong. I was too quick to judge. Looking at his Facebook page, blog, and website now, I must applaud him for being the courageous young entrepreneur who dared to dream. It's even more inspiring because he did not just be an entrepreneur for the sake of stepping out from the crowd. He truly has the passion and spark to do what he loves, and make it work! Congrats Ben and jiayou!

Life is short so stop worrying about the things that might never come. Focus on the present and do what you love. Of course, it's easier said than done. I think you should first find what you love. Only then the passion will emerge. Don't wait till tomorrow to try. There can never be a better time than now. So after I'm done blogging, I'm going to work on Dancing Quinn. So you, my dear reader, stop surfing the net aimlessly and start doing what you ought to! xx

Have you ever stopped to look at your parents? Have they seem to have aged a fair bit? It really breaks my heart to see my dad's head full of grey now. His bones are showing through his skin because he's lost so much weight (due to stricter diabetic patient diet). It somehow reminded me of my mum when she got diagnosed with cancer. Because she became stick thin and grew more frail by the day. This ache in my heart; I wonder who can relate to it?

Note: sorry for the emotional paragraph above. Will be better tomorrow (:

Woohoo happy twenty-thirteen guys! It's a brand new year and it's gonna be exciting I'm sure! (:

How did you spend the first day of 2013? I met the boyf for brunch at Old Malaya Cafe and went to Singtel to sort out his phone stuff. Apparently his contract isn't up until Mar'13. Oh well 3 more months and we're hoping to port over to M1 or something. Since there were some time while waiting for Singtel to call our queue number, we dropped by Popular to find my Beacon glue. Sadly they don't stock it but we had a lot of fun flipping through Primary School assessment books. Can you imagine I can't solve a P6 Maths question?? *gobsmacked!*

Then we went to the airport to send off Kor & Ade. We only managed to meet for a short meal but I'm still glad to see them! Really can't wait for the boyf to get some time so we can go to Australia! Here's a picture of Ade's family and my other family at the airport! (:

After that we went to my place to play with the Cameo! My new toy is freaking awesome. You can read more about it here.

We did many experiments and he stayed for dinner. It's the first time he's having dinner with daddy and I must say it went pretty well. I thought it would be awkward but I guess the boyf's just good at making things work (: We're making baby steps towards our future! Yippee!

Hope 2013 has started off well for all of you. Stay happy! :D
