nothing is better than infinite happiness

a cookie is better than nothing

therefore, a cookie is better than infinite happiness

now, where does the fallacy lie?

i actually drafted out a long post with some photos but i do not have the time to edit and publish it! as i am typing, i am in the midst of finishing up my assignment which is due tmr. so fast right. roars.

and then there's tutorials i have yet to touch. someone please teach me how to create more time?

-

we backed out of 2009 Race Against Cancer because they administration was screwed. they told us at the last minute that they have too many girls.

=.=

shouldn't the database be updated as and when volunteers register? so that they can reject everybody else once the quota is reached?

-

i have photos from alice's 21st in my camera which i need to upload. OH! ivan is naming his daughter Shantel - the exact same spelling. hehe. confirm pretty baby :D can't wait to see how adorable she is in 2 months time!

#958.

came across this excerpt which i found particularly interesting.

how society works:

it's not abt forming a base of roots such as trust and compassion in order to reap the fruits of joy and love.

no. it's abt the laws of supply and demand. if you demand something and can provide proper incentive to get people to hand it over, they'll supply it.

and the equilibrium remains stable.

it's sort of amazing. i had no idea she was such an economic genius.

it sort of casts everything in a new light.

and i do mean everything.

HAHA. she's analysing the society from an economic point of view. so cool (:

anyway i made popiah (spring rolls) today cos Yushu kept telling me she eats them daily. i was so amazed that my dad's chopping skills so zai! i only managed to cut half a carrot and he's already done with the whole turnip plus some french beans. wow.

okays off to do tutorials and view webcast. ^^

poof goes week two. damn bloody fast! during the 6-hours break on Tuesday, Yushu & i planned to go jogging but she was too tired. so we went to the library and she fell asleep while reading =.= i did some notes & tutorial preparation & people-watched. i wonder why so many people are mugging at week two. hmmm.

i also queued for the FREE welfare diary. and bcos i didnt get it last year, i was more determined to get it this year despite the longggg Q. haha.

finally jogged on Thursday (: and we bumped into Weishan at the Science Canteen. feels so good to catch up with old friends. the "i lost my banana" joke is a classic one and it had us in fits. she said my laughter is still as contagious!

also bumped into Ervin. speaking of which, the NUS Arts Bash '09 results are out:

mr arts 2009: Shaoqi
ms arts 2009: Rina

mr bonafides 2009 for the most well-groomed male: Mingrui
ms bonafides 2009 for the most glamorous female: Rina

mr popularity 2009: Mereith
ms popularity 2009: Vanessa

their faces here or here if you've forgotten how they look like.

Weishan said she thought i was in the pageant because her friend mispronounced "Xiao Qin" =.=

Environmental Econs prof said we have to form project groups (of five) before tutorials commence so i got a little worried. bcos i was taking this module alone. fortunately there was the thing known as a Forum which i posted my contact details. a few people contacted me and i was so relieved! until one by one, they told me "sorry we found a member already!"

T_T

i'm finally taken in by this group and the group leader seems nice (on sms). and my group members are Wenqi, Pearine, Huizhong, Yanlin. i wonder if they are nice people...

and here's my confirmed timetable!

i end school at 8pm on 3 out of 4 days. what a gross timetable. HAHA.

#956.

it was a horrible start. because i lugged my laptop to school on the first day only to find out that appeals commence the next day. the school's administration is screwed.

i now think that SP spending S$5,000,000 on a timetable planner for the entire student body isn't such a bad idea after all. it was a perfectly rational decision so students (like me) don't have to fret over bidding and stuff.

otoh, i would be saying completely different things if i had a perfect 3-day week timetable.

like the whole bidding nightmare isn't bad enough, my laptop spoilt on the very same day!

i think the manufacturer did it on purpose. i mean, making the parts last only for a year because i bought the laptop last June! lucky for me dad purchased additional 2 years warranty so we sent it for repair.

so timely you know.

on my first day of school, in the midst of bidding / appealing, having tons of lecture notes to print.

i was so fed up i cried and dad had to console me, saying repeatedly "take it easy; life is never perfect."

day two. school was slightly better because the Prof for Environmental Econs was so funny! it was a case of - we were laughing at him, not with him. he was smiling the whole time, plus, sniggering every 10 seconds at i-dont-know-what. so his lecture went something like this:

"environmentalist and economist dont work together -snigger- because they have totally different viewpoints. -snigger- i am actually an environemtalist -snigger- so pls dont hate me -snigger- im sort of like a tree-hugger. -snigger- okay, how many of you actually care about the environment? -snigger- you dont care how many plastic bags you use right? -snigger-"

he practically punctuates his sentences with sniggers!

not entirely a bad thing for me because at least i paid close attention to what he was talking about (:

on Thursday i met Kathy & Yushu to go jogging at our school's stadium. i could only managed 1.2km before i went out of breath, and feeling like i could faint/die anytime.

either i have low blood pressure, or low count of red blood cells, or both. but bro said it's because the oxygen is not travelling to my brain, and encouraged me to jog daily.

are you kidding me!!

anyway i think jogging once a week is tiring good enough for me, for now (:

caught The Hangover with my girlfs (except Peisi who has family chalet) yesterday.

funny movie :D

and had lunch at Cahaya Restaurant - cheap & good!

CURRY CHICKEN NOODLE

CHICKEN MUSHROOM NOODLE

LAKSA

HONEYDEW CHICKEN RICE

do not be fooled. the honeydew chicken rice has got no honeydew taste! HAHA. i think the only traces of honeydew are the little shreds of the fruit. nevertheless these yummy plates costs only S$3 each! :D

oh, most importantly, i secured my last 2 Economics modules. yeh, very thankfully (: the girlfs replied "oh yay congrats lunch on you!"

WTH =.=

but i still love them nonetheless (: here's my tentative timetable.

opposite the Istana...

in case you cant tell, this is a very beautiful picture of the Singapore Flag and the Singapore Crest (which aimee calls - The Majulah!) -.-

zoomed in

okayy heading to jocelyn's 21st party in a while! (:

and yet another film by Hayao Miyazaki.

no doubts about his talent. storyline, as always is kept as simple as possible. this time, it's about the fight between humans and animals. the hero, Ashitaka aims to make peace between the 2 parties as he befriends the animal side - human girl, San, who's raised by the wolf god, and the human side - Lady Eboshi, who's in charge of a factory.

other films by him - My Neighbour Totoro, Ponyo on the Cliff.

-

also read lots of storybooks. HAHA.

these are for children but i dont care i still read them (:

-

and lastly, i mentioned that i wanted to revamp my blog's layout before school starts. i did some changes actually. but when i showed bro, he was like "that's so amateurish!"

he said it was like some not-pro person trying to act pro. roars! and that he preferred the current layout.

so okayy, i will work on it when i'm free (:

bless me and all others starting school tmr!

this is specially for the 2 most adorable cuties {Davian & Claudette} i've ever met :D

9th August

few days ago, while at sis Meh's house, she brought out her childhood photos to show me how alike we looked. in some photos i really think we could have passed off as twins. HAHA.

here are photos of me & my bro, and sis Meh & her bro. make a guess who's who (:

-

have always wanted to see what knickknacks are dangling from the shelf.

here it is!

#953.

last Sunday morning was lovely (: i was already gleeful when i coincidentally boarded the same train as sis Meh. haha. met Sharon & Chunhwee and attempted to wait for Joel but we gave up.

all sis Meh's fault because she flooded the boys with sms-es. Joel got so irritated he replied "hey i told you i will be late already right." sis Meh replied "yes sir, xxxxxxxxxxxx" (i forgot what.)

HAHAHA. super funny. we can totally picture Joel's officer-being-angry-expression.

while waiting for the bus, Chunhwee suddenly became the "information counter". not that it's something unusual but it was so funny cos he simply stood in front of the information board and strangers start coming up to him. HAHAHA.

reached Red Dot Brewhouse and saw -gasp- Rynel, already there!!!

i was shocked beyond words.

we ordered our hearty brunch-es. its so filling you can consider it br-unch-ner (breakfast + lunch + dinner). i'm truly amazed at the huge servings. the people at Red Dot are certainly not stingy with their ingredients (:

Monster Green Lager - $4
Brewed and lagered with European-manufactured spirulina to give it a unique colour and a whiff of fresh fragrance.

Onion Rings - $6.50
super super oily but delicious nonetheless! they really use real onion rings and not those mashed ones.

Waffle - $15
Served with ham, cheese, sunny side up egg, french fries & mesclun salad (choice of maple syrup or honey)
waffles with maple syrup rock my Sunday morning!

Omelette - $15
Mushroom & Cheese Stuffing with ham. Served with french fries, baked beans, baked tomato, sauteed mushroom & mesclun salad.
mushroom cooked to perfection, damn fragrant and tasty!

Tagliatelle Prosciutto e Fungi - $15
Cream based pasta sauteed with assorted mushrooms and ham, topped with shaved parmesan cheese.
cream was a little too thick but i love how they served the cheese freshly shredded (pic not taken)

Red Dot Beef Burger - $18
Homemade succulent ground minced beef, diced porcini mushroom, diced onion pattie, topped with onion rings, sliced tomato & lettuce with truffle salsa.
omg thick beef patty! it's about (or even more than) 1 inch.

Omelette - $15
Cherry Tomato & Cheese Stuffing with sausage. Served with french fries, baked beans, baked tomato, sauteed mushroom & mesclun salad.
best sausage ever!

Cinnamon French Toast - $15
A sunny side up egg in the hole, served with prosciutto di parma, french fries & mesclun salad (choice of maple syrup or honey)
i like the way they creatively place an egg in the toast in this manner. so cute and appetising! i wonder how they did it!

simply delectable!

all of us were brimming full but we really wanted to get a cake for Sharon. so we requested for a doughnuts kid's meal. unfortunately we couldn't have that because it's "for kids only". i thought they should make an exception /: we settled for the BIG doughnut in the end.

pretty right! (;

commendable service: they provide free candles!

the doughnut is gooooood. not oily and deep-fried like the usuals. in fact, i think it tasted abit like cake. LOL.

the thing about being in the outdoors and being surrounded by trees & ponds & algae & dragonflies is that there's a tendency of creepy crawlies. most girls hate them!

haha. so we decided to leave for Ion in Max's car :D

i must say i have not experienced a more exciting car ride.

Sharon, Chunhwee, sis Noi, sis Meh, and myself were squashed in the backseat. but my butt kept sliding down so i decided it was better for me to sit on sis Meh's lap.

which resulted in me being too tall and knocked the roof a couple of times. plus i was wearing shorts and sis was wearing skirt so our sweaty thighs were piled on top of each other. so GROSS right! LOL.

everybody looked so happy after alighting!

anyway Ion was way too crowded on a Sunday afternoon so we headed home shortly after. only managed to take pictures in the ladies =.=

lovelove!

-

the other day while hunting for Sharon's present, we decided to be straightforward and asked for a wishlist. here's her reply:

sis Meh exclaimed: "aww im so touched! we must buy a nice gift for her!"

so we bought,

and made,
