ERVIN LEE!!

omgwtf! i couldnt stop laughing.

seriously.

i wonder how "glamorous" and "charismatic" he is now - to be shortlisted as a pageant finalist. because i certainly do not believe that FASS lacks good looking + fun loving people.

busy these 2 days with:

1. Dinner with sis Meh & sis Ting

had a simple dinner at Kim Gary Restaurant. and sis ting had to leave shortly after. sis meh's bro came and join us for shopping :D

my favourite drink - Yuan Yang (i.e. coffee + tea)

Spaghetti with Beef Sauce

sis Meh's healthier choice of Carrot Apple Juice

Spicy Noodles with Pork Slices
good for people with blocked nose!
cos sis Meh went "wah really shiok but not too spicy till cannot tahan. good!"

sis Ting's Honey Lemon

Nissin Noodles with Lucheon Meat
i think they serve an egg with every noodle dish. HAHA. but anyways, i think Kim Gary's food is nice & affordable. bill comes up to $33.10.

2. Judging for IPW Oral Presentation

was down for 2 days at Computer Lab 3. my fellow judges for the first day were teachers of the school, Florence and Mr P (i'm sure that's not how his name is spelt but the students were calling him Mr P, Mr P). haha.

Florence is a really nice lady, Chemistry teacher. she casually asked if i was interested to teach cos she wants to retire already. she made me feel at ease talking to her. Mr P looks like one of my uncles. HAHAHA.

anyway, out of the 4 groups, i gave the highest score to the one presenting on Food; my pet topic :D not only that, they gave lots of insights as to why people eat dangerous food (e.g. puffer fish) even though they know the risks. research well done!

the second highest grade goes to an innovative idea of Nail Polish Pen. super cool. it's like a 2 sided pen with one side dispensing beads for nail art; and the other side is a brush tip for you to paint your nails on-the-go! even though there's already products like this in the market, i thought they had a pretty good blueprint hand drawn (:

the other 2 groups were mediocre - presenting on Drug Abuse and Fish Breeding.

was late on the second day cos i went to the Matriculation Fair earlier on. teamed with parent, Christina and teacher, Ms Faten. they were both really gentle when they speak, and every word was articulated so clearly; i became self-conscious too.

that day, we decided to work as a panel of judges and discussed about each group's presentation before coming to consensus.

we gave the highest grade to the group which researched on "Why Singaporeans Gamble Despite the Odds of Losing", and the second highest to 3-in-1 Tabletop.

i personally liked the second one better and would have liked to give them a higher score based on their creativity. you can totally tell i'm a budding entrepreneur (;

the other 2 groups were really quite bad - presenting on Anti-Acne Spray and Uberman.

the Anti-Acne Spray looks good but the group didnt show that they have put in much effort. they bought a ready-made spray and just added fragrance to it. not much hard work involved, i would say.

the judges were speechless after the last group. the group "leader" was so cocky! at only sec 2 level. the way he speaks somehow reminded me of joseph. HAHA. but his character and attitude was intolerable. we ought to teach him a lesson, but at the expense of his group members - so we failed them.

3. Guiding

was on my way out of the school when i spotted gloria & huiying. i was slightly taken aback that they still recognised me. chatted for a bit and sad to say, but i no longer feel sad or angry about how guides is in such a sorry state now. i totally feel no connection to the CCA anymore. those good old days are gone. maybe one fine day if it's alive and kicking, it would stir my passion once again (:

4. Matriculation Fair

bumped into hairianto otw to school (: reached MPSH and went to the CCA booths with kathy & yushu. the people are so enthusiastic and fun! signed up for NUS Office of Alumni Relations and Students' Community Services Club. and managed to grab some goodies too! haha.

met peisi & aimee afterwards for lunch at The Deck. woohoo! my lovely yong tau foo plus strawberry soursop rocks! :D

5. Bidding

called up Econs Dept and the lady at the other line replied "sorry i can't help", after i told her my plight. she simply asked me to appeal after everything is over, which is after round 3B, which is after 11th August.

but ya'know what??

school starts on 11th August!

senior's advise - to sit in for lectures in week 1 first, till i secured all mods.

oh well. what to do?

updates @ 00:28 hrs

okay my bidding results is out.

as you can probably tell, i'm uber sad cos i'm only allocated ONE pathetic mod. plus that isn't even what i wished for.

i really really want micro II because that's one of the core core. and i want transport because it seems like i have a slight background in that area. but what i got instead was stupid environment which i'm totally not interested in. but just bidded for it because there isn't anything else to bid for.

plus i wasted 598 points for it.

totally feeling fucked up and not in the best of moods.

now i can only pray hard and wait for next monday.

the school system totally sucks. but i only have myself to blame.

"thankyou friends / girlfs / sisters for listening to my shit. i still cannot believe what tough luck i'm facing but i will make it through. i have the options of:
  1. bidding again in round 2a
  2. appealing after round 2c
  3. taking up special term
  4. extending school for half a year
  5. quitting school
so there's definitely a way out! i shall not despair and i was only kidding about the last option."
(:

"she is now not able to drive because she sees double vision. she took one week leave, hoping to recuperate at home but it seems like her condition did not improve. in fact, her eyelids not only drooped occasionally, her iris move to the centre uncontrollably. it's as if she is not able to focus her vision. doctors say it is a type of neuromuscular disease. and conditions like this usually worsen, to affect other parts of your body. we're hoping that it stays at the eyes only, but it's hard to tell. she complained that she even has difficulty swallowing now. she is the pillar of our family; and i feel like i've lost another sister."

it pained my heart to hear these from my aunt G (my mum's younger sister). she sobbed in between her words and all i could say was "ehh don't cry la", but what good is that?

my aunt J is diagnosed with a type of neuromuscular disease. in layman terms, the brain is not able to send a signal properly to the muscles, thus parts of the body fail to function properly.

since my mum passed away 3 years ago, aunt J has to shoulder greater responsibilities since she's now the eldest of six remaining children. she's not married and lives alone. now who is to care for her?

met up with hairianto just now to help him in choosing what mods to take in the coming semester (: yay! now i finally have a friend in FASS!!

planned to go kite-flying this morning with the girlfs but it rained. i was secretly happy because it's just so nice to sleep in on a cold morning, under the blanket (:

at noon, we randomly decided to meet up for lunch at E-hub. bumped into Ms Fah who said: "you can die from dieting." had a late lunch because we couldn't decide on where to eat. finally went to Hao Kou Wei Foodcourt @ Downtown East for cheap food.

talked alot about many things, mostly of kathy's sister - gave advices and such. kathy, must go take action quick quick ok! call us if you need help!

bus-ed to NTUC at Tampines Mall to buy ingredients for dinner. i am a (almost) perfect housewife! :D

For the things we hope in the secret of our hearts.

If they were realised, would they really be the answer we'd prayed for?

the girlfs and i met up last month to visit this quaint little salon + cafe @ Shaw Towers - Hairloom and Caramel. the interior is cute and colourful; great place to slack the afternoon away (:

they actually refurnished all the furniture by themselves. how cool is that!

met up with sis meh & sis noi for dinner yesterday at Ebisboshi Shotengai at Iluma @ Bugis.

we hesitated at the entrance for a long time because the setting looks complicated. there were 3 queues available and we were unsure of how it works. we finally settled on Restaurant 3 as there were more variety.

(credits: chatterfield)

seven different dining brands in all

the concept is basically like a foodmarket - think Marché, Shokudo, Manpuku. but you don't carry a card around. instead, food is ordered via a digital pen which scans the menu (:

(credits: ebisboshi shotengai)

(credits: memoirs of food)

i am quite amazed by the system; the pen actually reads out every order. haha.

sis meh playing with it

while waiting for our food to be served, sisters tried my oishi unagi sushi. they exclaimed "deeeelicious!" satisfied diners make a chef happy (v^^)

when the waiter came with our food, he did a double take at the sushi and the order list. he must be thinking "where did the sushi came from??" cos apparently we didn't order any. hehe.

Salmon Sashimi Salad - was taken aback by the portion cos it looks small in the menu. i don't know how to differentiate if the salmon was really fresh but it sure tasted good (:

Fried Garlic Gyoza with Vinegar - i think they didn't fry it on the spot cos it's cold /:

Chicken Katsu Curry Rice - very average, but i love the mini salad served together! it's super crunchy and tasty i finished the whole bowl while sis noi had to swallow all the rice. HAHA.

Chicken Karaage Soba - my least favourite cos the chicken was super oily and the noodle was super soft. not sure if it's left in the soup for too long. LOL.

Red Bean Taiyaki - was expecting the some ice-cream inside (like the ones served in Sushi Tei) but there was only red bean paste. it's still nice though cos the red bean is hot and the pancake is soft.

total bill was about $46-something, which i considered reasonable comparing it with Manpuku or Shokudo. food quality was slightly above average. but do check / wipe your utensils before using cos we had a couple of them with stains. erks!

we camwhored and laughed so much that dinner was (almost) fully digested. bought ice cream from Venezia Gelateria. 3 scoops for $5.70. yummy!

i chose lemon

sis meh chose macadamia

sis noi chose butterscotch

HAHAHA. check out sis noi's expression when she greedily swallow a BIG mouthful of lemon icecream :P
