#1105.

so i was super busy for the past three days. here's a timeline of what happened:

Mon 29th Mar
10:00 Development Econs presentation went well! tutor wanted to try a new way of presentation and experimented with our group. we were stunned but did a good job. yay!

12:00 lunch date with Pln & Ssn! studied at arts canteen.

13:00 met Wnt & Jsn at Kent Ridge terminal. bus-ed to TCT for interview but we got off at the wrong stop! wtf.

15:00 Mrs Esther Loo from FNA was super nice! she's a great inspiration to us now. haha.

16:00 supposed to rush down to ______ for my M5 tutorial but i felt bad to walk out in the middle of the interview.

16:40 interview finally ended and it was pouring! decided to cab to ______.

17:00 texted Vrn that i'll be late.

17:10 i was only 10 minutes late! awesome!

17:20 read through the summarized notes that Vrn prepared and starting working on the mock paper. did quite badly, in fact i failed T_T Vrn gave me 2 more sets of mock papers to try at home.

21:00 reached home. had dinner. do report. sleep.

Tue 30th Mar
12:00 attended tutorials in half-asleep mode ):

14:00 lunch at Engine canteen with Jsn & Dns! discussed and typed interview transcript.

16:00 Dns left for CCA. we decided to study. Jsn asked me level 1000 Econs tut which i can't solve. super demoralized ):

18:00 Dns and Wnt came for project meeting. changed venue to Arts canteen. Pbe down with fever so she couldn't make it! we all had waffles for dinner. LOL!

20:00 wanted to pee damn badly but afraid of the dark. hahaha. school toilet always damn freaky at night! got Jsn to follow me to the ladies while he waited outside! hahaha.

22:30 still not done with discussion but we were too tired to give constructive comments. Dns & i walked to the bus stop while the other 2 walked back to PGP. along AS2 walkway, there were about 10 million ants!!! some as big as bee ok! i totally freaked out and ran across the whole walkway. hahahaha.

00:00 reached home & showered. continued with project discussion on MSN and over the phone with Dns cos the other 2 boys were asleep -.-

03:30 couldn't take it anymore. went to sleep!!

Wed 31st Mar
07:30 alarm went off but i snoozed it till 8am. haha.

10:30 reached school and realised i didn't print my lecture notes. since i was already late, might as well go print my notes first. hahaha.

10:45 dozed off throughout the whole lecture!!!

11:40 lecture ended early so rushed to AS7 to continue typing the report. supposed to meet Yushu for lunch but i can't seem to finish the report no matter how hard i tried ): serious mental block + dying from hunger and exhaustion!

13:00 Jsn came but didn't help me with the report at all! argh.

13:40 Jsn said 'ok i go tutorial first'. wth we are a group! and we're supposed to submit the report during tutorial! so while i was racking my brain, he just went for tutorial. fml!

13:50 Yushu popped by with a peanut butter waffle!! such a sweetie pie :D

14:10 finalised every detail and send for printing.

14:30 reached tutorial room & realised i've missed the first group's presentation on Uniqlo. argh!

15:00 tutor announced report wasn't due today but next week! the whole room was filled with so much 'HUH?' then the tutor realised he miscommunicated the deadline previously. to make up for it, he was gonna give us bonus points! like real! we all didn't believe him. hahaha.

16:00 late lunch.

18:00 took the train home.

had a super duper busy week, hence no updates! so here's what happened this week:

collected my M5 textbook and it was freaking thick! ): really hope to finish reading it and pass the exam next week!

*

went back to HSC for guides with Kathy & Xiuzhen. had an awesome time with the girls and did my duty as a Secretary - i updated the alumni blog (view it here)! haha. the seniors were welcomed back to the school and things were looking up till Wednesday came and some teacher actually scolded Xiuzhen on no reasonable grounds.

it's pretty upsetting to know that the school is still having problems with us. coming Tuesday, we shall have a meeting and i hope these issues will be resolved. miracles do happen!! :D

*

my submission was due on Thursday but i couldn't finish it on time so i only submitted it on Friday 11pm. i'm not sure if i'll get penalized for that, but heck! i gave my best (:

*

we arranged an interview with the CEO of TCT but he postponed it at the very last minute! like 30 minutes before the pre-arranged time. we were quite disappointed cos all of us (except P who had class) were already making our way down to the office.

J & W were on 151 from school, so i got them to bus back to school. D was at Bishan, and i was on 27 (reaching Sengkang), so we agreed to meet at Serangoon and train to school tgt. bad move!! firstly, there were no seats when the trains arrived at Serangoon so we trained back to Sengkang, then to Outram, then to Clementi, then bus to school. secondly, we should have trained to Harbourfront instead!! it's so much nearer to school.

almost 3 hours of unproductive time was spent on travelling so by the time we started on our project (at 2plus), we were already damn tired.

went for my tutorial at 4pm, and i didn't attempt this week's questions ): so i went there with a blank mind, and blank paper. i feel so guilty cos this Prof is so nice. i shall work harder!

*

just came back from tomb-sweeping at brighthill temple. surprisingly there weren't many people. i managed to read the entire M5 textbook!! but reading doesn't imply understanding. i shall read more later ):

it was the annual PKL bbq, and they invited me again! (: i was really touched to receive the email invitation from Azr since it has already been 1.5 years since i left the company. Rgn and i volunteered to bring marshmallow, otah and sweet corn. being really lazy, we ordered through BBQ Wholesale even though it was a whole lot more expensive /:

here are food pics cos i don't have time to edit ppl pics. heh.

grandpa has been discharged since he wanted to go home so badly, and the doctors see no point in keeping him there. this is exactly what happened to mum. the doctors will tell you to either (i) bring patient home, or (ii) send patient to hospice. obviously we're not doing the latter.

but the issue is that my grandparents are living by themselves, i.e. not very safe for 2 elderly to be at home. what's more, my grandpa is now terminally ill and would need plenty of care. my grandma is too old to handle everything by herself. they (my aunts/uncles) are now working things out.

dad's driving them to Assisi tmr to look at some medical equipment that are available for loan.

suddenly, all the images/scenes of mum at the last stage of her life keeps flooding my mind... nobody knows the anguish of grief.

so i went for an interview today at _______. i actually agreed to it because the lady who called me, C, told me they have the positions i wanted, and that it was ok even though i was looking for 2 months intern.

*&^%$#@ LOR!!

obviously they're not looking for intern!

but the manager was really really nice and we chatted for almost 2 hours, until he had to leave for an urgent appointment.

i've also decided to take the M5 examination. not sure if it's a right decision but i guess no harm giving it a shot. i'm gonna study really hard and pass it first time cos it's so expensive! ):

thankyou ppl for your concern (: esp sis Noi's sms! i was really touched.

no news is good news. we're all gonna die someday so there's nothing to be afraid. i just hope grandpa can go peacefully, when his time is up (:

anyway, to the exciting stuff which i mentioned here! ^^ i went on a night tour around HCI/Scouts Camp!! ok i know it doesn't sound exciting to you but it definitely was an eye-opener for me. i keep going "wah.. wah!" the whole night. LOL.

so here's how it all started. we were supposed to meet on Tues for Marketing proj rehearsal and final touch up. but D recalled he has camp from Mon to Wed. we were thinking of some other alternatives (like meeting over the weekends), when D proposed we have the meeting at his alma mater. it was then that we realised he's from Scouts. and the super coincidental thing is - P & i were from Guides!!! :D

we were major excited! we just kept laughing and singing all the cheers and talking about outdoor cooking & footdrills, etc.

amidst all the excitement, D annouced "we're having campfire on Tues". wah that got P & i on a whole new level of exhilaration, we broke into campfire songs, in the middle of Biz Canteen. HAHAHAHAHAHA.

so Tues came and i was really looking forward to the campfire but we were not supposed to be there! i mean, even though it's an independent school and all, i totally understand the 'visitors must report to general office' thing. so we sneaked into a classroom. it's damn big with air-con!

i spotted some Sec 1 boys running around - they look so cute! totally small size and haven't gone through puberty yet.

anyway, we hid in the classroom and finished up our project. by then, it was almost 7pm and the teacher I/C had left! so yeh, we were free to explore around. W & J weren't very interested so they went back to PGP.

P & i lingered around and D brought us to see what his boys were doing - cooking!! omg, they really prepared dinner for the whole company lor (we always catered for camps). and they were doing stove cooking. i totally forgot to take photos ):

i didn't know stove cooking is part of their cirriculum!! i thought only got outdoor cooking & mass tin cooking. and the boys seriously CAN cook. they fried chicken, cauliflower, cooked dessert & rice. i was so amazed. how many boys can cook these days???

we talked to 2 other leaders and D tried to lure us into volunteering!!! hahaha.

then we walked into the 'forest-y' area of the school to see the Sec 1 boys playing obstacle course. they were all covered in mud!!! look so playful and cute. D said "you all want to hug jie jie?" FML. P & i were like "what no!"

the campfire hasn't started so we weren't able to see anything. and i heard they weren't allowed to build a real campfire so they had to make do with something else.

P & i were really hungry by then (cos we didn't had lunch, and P is like sis Noi! forever hungry) so D brought us on a night tour around the school since we needed to walk from 1 end to the other.

seriously, it's the biggest school i've ever seen. i swear it's like 3 times bigger than HSCS or any typical neighbourhood Sec school. and i'm NOT exaggerating.

yes, even though it's TCHS combined with HCJC, but the Sec school area constitues around 80% of the entire campus. freaking huge!! o.O

they had all sort of research centres, labs, fountains, the infamous clock tower (damn scary one!), swimming pool, running track, and everything else. and throughout the tour, the 3 of us shared alot of our 'what we did during Scouts/Guides days' stories. oh man, i miss Guides soooooooooooooooooooooooo much ):

and it's only now that i realised, it's not our school's problem. there are other schools (companies) out there that do not cherish their alumni. it's probably the whole YA thing. and now that they've opened Girl Scouts to Sec school, i'm sure there'll be lesser and lesser Guides.

hmmm, why are Guides and Scouts so different? i thought we're all founded by the same BP?

anyway, i'm so glad i met P & D who are so passionate about CCAs. we have so many things to share. this has got to be my biggest reward from the Marketing proj. hahahaha.

oh ya, Marketing presentation was a huge success!! :D we were the 2nd group to present and P & D were late /: the tutor said "if they don't make it in time, one of you have to present on their behalf". i was damn scared and my heart was beating so fast. i was really afraid we'd screw up. 5 mins before we were up, P arrived. phew. D was still at Central Forum!

3 mins later, he came in and i heaved a sigh of relief so loud i think everyone in class heard. so we presented as per rehearsed. everything went smoothly except we exceeded by 1 min.

after we said "we've come to the end, any questions?", the tutor said "honestly, who thinks this group did better than the previous one?"

everybody raised their hands!!!

i was so happy i wanna cry.

you wouldn't imagine how much effort i put into it. and there was no questions asked during Q&A at all!!!!! omg.

the first group had lots of questions during Q&A, i think prolly they weren't clear & precise enough. and they exceeded time by 7 mins!

the tutor said "ok, no questions, but just a feedback that your report should focus more on xxx because your presentation was mostly on yyy. but good job, i think they deserve another round of applause."

U KNOW, I CAN'T STOP SMILING (:

my grandpa is admitted to A&E again because his blood pressure dropped too low. it's now 60/30 which is less than half of what it should be. he has been on drip for the past 3 days and BP is up to 90 but still quite low. the doctor said in the event that his heart stops beating, they will not conduct a CPR bcos it might break his ribcage ):

in other words, they will just let him go...

he is old and frail now. the doctor said he's only left with a couple of months bcos the blood cancer is advancing very quickly.

i feel so sad. but at the same time, consoled to know that he will be meeting his daughter (my mum) soon. it must have hurt so bad when mum left. we're not visiting him at the hospital till further notice bcos there's just too many relatives going there everyday and the limit is 4 pax at any one time. so yup, i'm by the phone 24/7 for updates.

as part of the module requirement, we were supposed to take this VALS survey. the results are somewhat accurate for me!! :D

Your primary VALS™ type is Striver, and your secondary type is Experiencer.

The primary VALS type represents your dominant approach to life. The secondary classification represents a particular emphasis you give to your dominant approach.

Strivers
Strivers are trendy and fun loving. Because they are motivated by achievement, Strivers are concerned about the opinions and approval of others. Money defines success for Strivers, who don't have enough of it to meet their desires. They favor stylish products that emulate the purchases of people with greater material wealth. Many Strivers see themselves as having a job rather than a career, and a lack of skills and focus often prevents them from moving ahead.
The VALS Framework

Strivers are active consumers because shopping is both a social activity and an opportunity to demonstrate to peers their ability to buy. As consumers, they are as impulsive as their financial circumstance will allow.

Experiencers
Experiencers are motivated by self-expression. Young, enthusiastic, and impulsive consumers, Experiencers quickly become enthusiastic about new possibilities but are equally quick to cool. They seek variety and excitement, savoring the new, the offbeat, and the risky. Their energy finds an outlet in exercise, sports, outdoor recreation, and social activities.
The VALS Framework

Experiencers are avid consumers and spend a comparatively high proportion of their income on fashion, entertainment, and socializing. Their purchases reflect the emphasis that they place on looking good and having "cool" stuff.

i'm crazy. i actually enjoy doing project. fml!

only Marketing proj though. i think it's because of the people. other than W, who is seriously on a wrong frequency with me, J, P, D are damn nice, not taking into account the fact that they are perpetually late! :P i feel like a big sister when doing project with them, and J always calls me jie jie. fml! and he's playfully annoying - tries to manipulate my sentences /:

lucky there's D, who's a Jan dragon baby, so that makes him about 1 year older than me! :D hahaha. he's like the most helpful of the lot (probably more responsible).

P and i laugh at random things till we almost hyperventilate. HAHA. really reminds me of good ol' poly days where Noi/Meh and i can laugh till we cry ^^

so ya, because of these nice people, i have the urge and motivation to give it my best for this project. did soooooo much work (~50%) but i don't feel that i'm being made used of. omg what's wrong with me?!

p/s. something is gonna happen on Tuesday! and i'm damn excited!! :D sorry but i cannot reveal what it is until it actually happens, so hopefully i have something interesting to blog after Tuesday!!! *jumps around in excitement*

went down to TCT, hoping to get a chance for an interview with the Marketing ppl but was turned down. it's quite sad cos everybody (except me) lives so far away and we really went all out with preparation and stuff.

thankfully, the Exec Director came in to office today! upon seeing us, she asked what we were there for and immediately promised that she would sit down with us for an interview! imagine our delight :D

thank goodness we refuse to budge when we were turned away lor. we just sat at the lobby thinking of a strategy. hahaha.

my Marketing proj group mates are really awesome! super love them ^^

she (Exec Director) then asked the lady to open up Chocolate Room (CR) for us.

initially the CR lady was like "aiyo, you all wanna buy things?? hurry hurry ok i gotta do packing in the warehouse!"

then we took the opportunity to ask her questions. we were so polite and sweet that she gave in and took her time to slowly explain everything. super nice!!! :D she even opened boxes of chocolates to let us try!

somemore is those expensive $22 for 100g kind!!! :D

obviously we had to buy some goodies cos she was so sweet (; plus, everything in the CR was on 25% discount. i bought this gigantic Kit Kat.
i was sold when she opened the Kit Kat to let us try. confirm different from those normal one you find in supermarkets. this was made in Bulgaria, not Malaysia or Indonesia. so the ingredients used were of higher quality, and you gotta pay for quality!

after the whole mini 'interview' session, i think i'm better at telling good quality chocolates apart from those normal one. HAHAHA. thankyou Sylvia from CR! (:

made 4 new friends today and they're all from China. LOLOL! i'm beginning to accept the fact that Chinese are here to stay and they are freaking smart. i must really thank them for saving my ass for the International Econs presentation today cos the Maths involved are crazy complicated.

oh plus, they are really nice & polite. why people from the same country can behave so differently one?? is it because they are better educated?? they keep saying 'thankyou' to me, cos i collated all their answers (but that's bcos it was the only thing i could do right -.-).

got back my midterm paper for Macroecons. slightly above mean only. cos so many people got A. must be those smartasses!

p/s. i still cannot stand typical Chinese who are inconsiderate, talks loudly, argues unreasonably, etc.

great! now that my midterms are over, i can finally take a little break before i start on my projects. anyway, the 2 papers were kinda tough but people are saying it's ok. so i guess i'm not gonna score.

recently (since last sem), i have been losing the motivation to study. despite knowing i do not have much time left in school & i should give it my best shot, i still can't find the drive to push myself. maybe i'm really tired of studying & exams & projects. maybe my body & mind is telling me i'm ready for the workforce. i really really wanna get outta sch asap!

bro has been really nice to motivate me whenever i tell him i wanna give up.

i'm not saying "oh i can't do it, uni is so tough", just because alot of other ppl are complaining about school. i'm really feeling it! i've never felt so helpless and unmotivated before. my results show. my grades are falling.

i know if i don't give it my all now, i will live to regret it. but whenever i start working on a project, or flip open my notes, my mind just tells me "you can't do it".

argh!!!!!!

i should do some soul-searching.

okay, 1 paper & 1 presentation down (:

so yesterday was the first time we saw who was in our group. the wonders of technology - we can complete a project & presentation slides without knowing who we're working with.

so anyway, i can't stand this girl, B cos she sounds really yaya through email. esp this one "Im sure we'll all be out/busy with midterms or smth, but we really have to get this done and who will bring their laptop tmr?"

wth, she didn't even volunteered to collate slides or compile online discussion stuff or bring laptop, then she still can say "we really have to get this done".

then do some work la!

ok so glad it's over & i heard from P that the second project might not be the same group members cos there might be a reshuffle!!

-

another ongoing project is so different cos my group members are all so funny :D i love working with them cos they are so "anything" and volunteer to split the work. i love nice people like them (:

oh oh, PLEASE HELP ME DO SURVEY PLSSSSS!
url: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/PNB97XS

thankyou thankyou!
if possible, do ask all your friends/family to help too. takes less than 5 minutes! (:

-

the El Nino effect is here ):

i spotted my Geog Prof in this article. haha.

drink more water people, don't get dehydrated! (:

ok off to study for Ind Orgn - it's all Maths & freaking complicated. i use two a4 papers to solve one question =.=

p/s. i shall catch up on blogging tmr!!! :D
